    教学设计 Unit2 Working the land Period 1 Reading A pioneer for all people Analysis for the teaching material 1.This reading is about an agricultural pioneer named Yuan Longping who worked hard to produce a new strain of rice. 2.Yuan Longping has achieved two things: to produce better rice so no one need go hungry again and to spread his knowledge to other countries. 3. Yuan Longping’s hobbies are listening to violin music, playing mah-jong, swimming and reading. Analysis for students Students are familiar with Yuan Longping and his super hybrid rice. Students are able to read most of the words in this unit fluently. Students do not know much detailed information about Yuan Longping. Teaching aims 1.Students master detailed information about Yuan by skimming and scanning the passage. 2.Students are able to describe him by learning detailed information. 3.Students are encouraged to make use of passage information by organizing a prepared interview. 4.Students develop more love for others and the world by appreciating Yuan’s selflessness Teaching emphases and difficulties Teaching emphases: Students get the hang of specific reading strategies better. Teaching difficulties: Students take part in the interview actively and express themselves using detailed information in the passage.
