Unit 12What did you do last weekend? The First Period Section A (1a—2b) Teaching aims 1. Key words: camp lake beach badminton sheep 2. Target language: (1) —what did you do on Saturday morning, Lucy? —I played badminton. (2) —What did you do on Saturday afternoon, Lucy? —I went to the beach. (3)—What did you do on Saturday night? —I went to the cinema. /I camped by the lake. /I went to the cinema. /I studied for the English test. 3.To learn to talk about recent past events. Teaching Method Task-based teaching method, Listening and speaking methods; Teaching Teaching aids Tape , PPT Teaching procedures Step1Warming-up and lead in 1.Greeting Ss as usual. 1. Free talk How was your weekend? Please tell some things you did last weekend. T: How was your weekend? S:It was great. I fed chickens.… Step2Presentation 1. Show each picture of la . Then Ask students to look at the pictures carefully and teacher ask students question with “what did you do last weekend?” Then T guides students how to answer to questions. 2. Next match the activities with pictures【a-f】. Finally ask students to repeat: did my homework, went to the cinema, went boating, camped by the lake, went to the beach, played badminton. Step3 Listening(1b) 1. Play the tape the first time. Students only listen. 2. Play the tape the second time. Ask Ss to write the days and times Lucy did each thing under the pictures. 3. Correct the answers. Step4 Practice ( 1c ) 1. Ask students to practice the conversations in 1c in pairs just like this: S1:What did you do last weekend, Lucy? S2: Well, on Saturday morning, I played badminton. 2. Encourage Ss to make new conversations with their classmates. 3. Invite some pairs to role-play their conversations for the class. Step5 Listening ( 2a—2b) 1. Point to the five sentences and ask a student to read these sentences. 2. Play the recording and ask students to underline each word 3. Correct the answers. 4. Play the recording again and ask students to identify each person by name. 5. Check the answers. Step6 Practice Divide the class into two groups :group1 acting as Teacher , group2 acting as Students, and practice the conversation of 2a ,then change the roles. Step8Summary&Homework Summarize what we learnt today. Homework 2. Copy new words twice. 3. Write about what you did last weekend.
