Which are optional courses in our school? Which optional course do you like to take? When will you study chemistry? Do you study Politics? Do you like Fine Arts? Do you want to take part in Mathematics Olympics? Step 4 Learn some more new words and expressions: required course, optional course, chemistry, politics, Fine Arts, Mathematic Olympics Step 5 Students look at the six pictures in the books and answer the questions below the pictures. Work in groups of four. Teaching procedure Step 1 Revise the new words and expressions by asking the following questions: Is Dongfang international school new school? Is it one of the city’s key school? What has it done in recent years? How many classroom buildings are there in it? Do you think the school has got a large library? What are the major courses in the school? What are the minor school in the school? Step 2 Play the text recording twice and explain some difficult sentences and expressions according to the lesson notes and language focus in the TB. Step 3 Students read the text loudly and then try to retell it by looking at the word cues. Finish the Comprehension Check.
