Have a daily talk with friends using “wh-” words. Describe one’s trip using the mind-map they learned. Know what they shouldn’t do when they go travelling. Analysis of Students Students are from Grade Six in Benyuan Primary School. They have mastered basic rules of past tense and some regular or irregular past forms. But it takes time to help students to use past tense correctly in the daily talk. Going on a trip is one of their favorite topics. So this lesson is aimed at arousing students’ interest and teaching them how to describe one’s trip. Teacher will offer students lots of opportunities to talk and share with others. Analysis of Content The topic of this lesson is trip. Its content is not that difficult for past tense beginners. But teacher intends to reorganize the learning material and improve students’ listening, talking and writing skills. (1) Key Points a. Have students get more familiar with “wh-” words b. Have students pronounce words in past tense properly. (2) Difficult Points a. How to describe one’s trip more easily with the help of mind-map. b. How to ask questions with “wh-” words in past tense correctly. Teaching Procedures Steps Activities Intentions (5min) Warm-up Step 1 Teacher plays a sharp-eye game with students.Free talk with students: What did you do yesterday/last weekend? Students work in pairs to talk about what they did last weekend?. To arouse students’ interest and review words in past tense they’ve learned. And to get students familiar with “wh-” words. (5min) Preview Step 2 Teacher shows a life photo and have students guess what Summer did last summer vacation.Students ask with “Did you...?”. Then teacher plays a video about Summer’s trip.Students learn to talk about Summer’s trip with the help of mind-map on the blackboard. To familiarize students with the topic trip and mind-map. (12min) Presentation Step 3 Listen and answer questions about Amy’s trip.Look and guess what Amy did over the holiday.Listen to the dialogue and write.Dub the cartoon.Retell Amy’s trip To teach the text and train skills of listening, reading and retelling. (10min) Consolidation Step 4 Think and write: How was my holiday? What did I do?Make a report: My trip Let students talk about their own trips and share with others. Encourage them to make a report in public. (3min) Moral Education & Summary Step 5 Teacher shows some pictures about uncivilized behaviors. T makes an assessment and end the class.
