Through the model rocket talked by Kangkang and Jane in 1a, students will learn the grammar which is the passive voice in the simple past tense. At the same time, students can know much about the rocket by focusing on the important sentence patterns, such as “What is it used for ” “It’s used for ...” . In 1b, by listening to 1a, students’ listening skills will be improved. In 1c, students can answer 4 questions to make themselves know 1a better. Students will do some practice in 2, which can help to do better in the sentence patterns “be made of, be made from and be used for”. Teaching aims and demands 1. Knowledge objects After this class, Ss will be able to: 1). learn to use some new words and expressions: rocket, metal, satellite, lock. 2). learn the following sentences: ①It’s bad for your health if you spend too much time on them. ②--What is it made of -- It’s made of metal. ③--What is it used for -- It’s used for sending satellites or spaceships into space. ④ I hope your dream will come true. 3). learn the grammar: the passive voice in the simple past tense. 4). know a lot about the invention and inventor. 2. Ability objects After the class: 1). Ss can have a conversation with each other about inventions like the rocket in English. 2). They can improve their listening and speaking ability and know some related strategies. 3). They can design their own works by drawing the picture:invention inventor works. 3. Emotion objects 1). Ss’ attitude towards thinking and exploring actively will be formed. 2). Their team spirit and the quality of sharing will be developed. Key points 1).
