Later, cuju was played in the army for training purpose during the Han Dynasty（朝代）. Cuju, as the ancestor of football, has had many changes throughout China s history. During the Tang Dynasty, the original ball made out of two pieces of leather was replaced by an air-filled ball made out of 8 pieces of cuspate（尖的）leather, making the ball rounder and lighter. Then during the Song Dynasty, the manufacturing（制造）skill of the football further improved. The eight pieces of leather developed into 12 pieces of better leather, and the ball was more closely jointed together, fully round, and weighing about 500g. Moreover, at the time there were already 40 different kinds of varieties, and each had its strong points and flaws（缺点）. Interesting facts about cuju: 1. Many emperors were cuju fans in ancient China.
