My parents don’t allow me to hang out with my friends. allow作动词,意为“允许,准许”,常用的结构如下: allow sb. to do sth. “允许某人做某事”。 allow doing sth. 意为“允许做某事”。 他的父母不允许他和朋友出去闲逛。因为他不得不上课外兴趣课。 His parents don’t allow him to hang out with his friends, because he has to have after-school classes. 老板不允许我在工作时间使用电话。 My boss doesn’t allow me to use the telephone during the working hours. 我们不允许在公共场所吸烟。We don’t allow smoking in public places. allow的其他用法: allow sth. “允许某事” I don't think she will allow it. 我想她不会允 许这件事情。 allow doing sth.“允许做某事” We don't allow smoking in our house. 在我们家不允许抽烟。 be allowed to do sth.“被允许做某事” Passengers are not allowed to smoke on the bus.在公交车上,乘客不允许抽烟。 2.Although she’s wrong, it’s not a big deal. 尽管她做的不对,但没什么大不了的。 (1)big deal 是英语中 的一个固定搭配,表示“重要的事情或是状况”多用于非正式交流,做否定用时,常说 it’s not a big deal. 或it is no big deal. 表示说话人并不认为某事有什么大不了的。 There’s a soccer game on TV this evening but I don’t have to watch it. It’s no a big deal. (2) although意为“尽管”,较正式,语气强 Although he was tired, he went on working. although引导的从句放在主句前后均可,有时还放在句中。 He often helps me with my English although he is quite busy. 尽管他相当忙,但是还常常帮我学英语。 although引导的从句不能与but, however连用,但与yet, still连用。 3.Hope things work out. 希望事情会好起来。 这是一种常见的表达法,表示某些不如人意的事情会随着时间的推移逐渐有所改变。句中Work out为动词短语,表示“解决(问题);改善(状况)”之意。e.g. Don’t worry. Things will work out. 别担心,事情会慢慢解决的。 4.They fight a lot, and I don’t really like it.他们经常吵架,我真的不喜欢这样。 此处“fight ” 为“吵架,争吵” Although they just got married, they’re fighting almost every day. fight 另有“打架”之意。 My little brothers are always fighting.
