Step2 Look, think and learn Underline the infinitives as the predicative As a middle school student, my dream is to become an artist. To achieve my dream, the first thing to do is to read as many books on art as possible. All I want is to be left alone and read the whole day in my room. For that, the least I can expect is to have this day all to myself. Besides, My idea is to learn different types of art at home and abroad. Among them, perhaps the best way is to understand that Western art is to look at the development of painting over the centuries. I have known the purpose of each type of art is to convey people’s attitudes towards life. To succeed, I have developed many good habits. For example, I never waste my time playing computer games when lots of things remain to do. My next step is to join an art club to meet like-minded young people like me. Under academic pressure, I would like to stay up late until midnight to practise painting every night. To stay up late is to risk my life, but I never give up. What I really want to know is when to hold an art exhibition by myself in the future. A great deal is yet to do. Step3 Infinitives as the predicative 1.结构:系动词+to do 2.形式: 不定式主动形式被动形式一般式(not) to do (not) to be done进行式 (not) to be doing —完成式 (not) to have done (not) to have been done完成进行式 (not) to have been doing — 3.规则: Tip 1:当句子的主语是不定式时,系动词后可接不定式作表语,用于解释主语所描述的行为或说明该行为带来的结果。例如:To ask him such questions is to irritate him. 类似用法还包括一些格言警句,例如:To see is to believe. Tip 2:当不定式作表语时,能够担当句子主语的名词大多用于表示某种情形或状况,包括advice、aim、ambition、custom、business、desire、difficulty、duty、experience、habit、happiness、 hope、idea、intention、job、method、plan、principle、problem、purpose、reason、risk、role、 task、thing、wish等。例如: My ambition is to become a scientist. Tip 3:当不定式作表语时,句子的主语还可以是what引导的主语从句。例如: What I want to do now is (to) have a rest. Tip 4:根据表达的需要,在作表语的不定式前,还可添加疑问代词或疑问副词,包括 what、who、how、when、where 等。例如: The problem was how to begin. Tip 5: 当主语包含定语从句且其先行词为代词all或形容词最高级形式the least、the most时,其后可接“系动词+不定式”作句子的表语。例如: All he wanted was to be left alone. Tip 6:某些动词不定式(短语)作表语时,需用主动形式表示被动意 ... ...
