课件网) The Mid-Autumn Festival The Mid-Autumn Festival is a harvest festival. The festival usually falls on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month every year. It is the second most important festival after the Chinese New Year, which witnesses the full moon and family reunion. It is a time for celebration and relaxation as well. During the festival, there are plenty of things to see and do. People will prepare a big dinner for their family members. On that day, no matter how far away or how busy they are, people will try to return home for this meal. Besides, the mooncake is an indispensable part for the festival which is made from different kinds of fillings, such as sugar and lotus seed powder. After dinner, people usually appreciate the moon, since the moon is the roundest and brightest on that day. In Chinese beliefs, the full moon is a symbol of family reunion. Many famous ancient poets wrote poems about it and expressed their homesickness. When people look at the moon, it reminds them of their families and homeland.
