In the United States, they're expected to shake hands.(P73) expect 动词,“期望,预料,期待”。 (1)be expected to do sth. “被期望做某事/应该做某事”。 He was expected to go to university. John is expected to come to the party today. expect to do sth. “期待做某事”。 I expect to come back next week. I expect to see him at once. expect sb. to do sth. “期待某人做某事”。 I expect you to do your duty. We often just drop by our friends' homes if we have time. (P75) drop by “顺便拜访”,可以直接使用,也可以在by后面加表示人或地点的词。 She and Danny will drop by later.
