Leading-in Use a picture and a teaching aid to explain what is lost and found office, lost and found box. “What are in Tom’s schoolbag ” (crayons, a pair of gloves, a set of keys, wallet, mobile phone, watch...) Step 2. Finding owners T: What is missing in Tom’s bag Where can he find it There is a lost and found box and some things are in it. Let’s find out the owners. Ss choose a thing from the lost and found box, ask questions and practice topic sentence patterns. —Whose...is this/are these —It’s.../They’re... —Is it/Are these yours —Yes, it’s/They’re mine. No, it isn’t./They aren’t. Step 3. Listen and answer Listen to the short dialogue and answer three questions. 1. Is the football Tony’s 2. Are the crayons Betty’s 3. Whose gloves are these T: What do you think of them (careless, be careful with) Step 4. Listen and check T provides some pictures of different things. Students listen to the record and check what they hear. Step 5. Listen and match Ss listen to the record again. This time they are supposed to match people’s names with things they lost. Step 6. Pair Work —Whose...is this/are these —It’s/They’re... Se ask and answer questions with topic sentence structure according to pictures given. Step 7. Listen and imitate T: How to find out the owners Can you read the passage and underline some sentences How to find owners Whose...is this/are these Is it/Are these yours/his/hers Ss imitate the whole passage and summarize sentence structure. Step 8. Group work Work in groups of 4. Put 4 or 5 things on the desk and make a dialogue. A: ...Come and look at the lost and found box. There are lots of things in it.
