Unit 5 Humans and Nature Lesson 1A Sea Story Period 1 教材分析 本课是一节阅读课,该语篇选自美国著名诗人、小说家、批评家埃德加爱伦坡(1809—1849) 的短篇小说“A Descent into the Maelstrom”《大漩涡历险记》。小说采取倒叙手法,回忆了 三年前主人翁和两个兄弟又去了经常去探险的岛屿,捕捞到了比其他人更多的鱼,返回时在 海上遇险的故事。主人翁的哥哥和弟弟在大漩涡中分别遇难,主人翁机智地把自己绑在一个 桶上在海上漂流,最后侥幸被一艘船救起。虽然救主人翁的渔夫都是主人翁的老朋友,但是 他们都认不出主人翁本人了,也不相信主人翁的历险故事,因为不到一天的时间,主人翁的 头发就从黑变白了,主人翁的身体和灵魂已经支离破碎,看上去已经是一个很老的人了。 教学目标 在本课学习结束时,学生能够: 1.通过阅读,获取小说中的主人翁海上遇险的相关信息。 2.能用恰当的语言讲述自己读完该短篇小说的感受,正确认识大自然的福与祸。 教学重难点 【教学重点】 通过阅读,获取小说中的主人翁海上遇险的相关信息。 【教学难点】 能用恰当的语言讲述自己读完该短篇小说的感受,正确认识大自然的福与祸。 教学过程 Step 1 Warming-up 1.Guide Ss to talk about the stories about people and the sea. 2.Brainstorm:Do you know any words or phrases related to the sea 设计意图:谈论与海洋相关的人物故事,从和海洋相关的世界名著着手,引入主题。并通过 头脑风暴,拓展与海洋相关的词汇和短语。 Step 2 Pre-reading 1.Look at the pictures.Use the words and phrases to describe the pictures 2.You are going to read a text adapted from the short story“A Descent into the Maelstrom”Read Fact File on page 30 and answer the questions. (1)What is a“Moskoe-strom” 1/4 (2)Who wrote the story 设计意图:引导学生根据提供的三幅图,描述图片内容,并学习FactFile, 获取本故事的作 者Edgar Allen Poe的基本信息,并了解大漩涡海洋专业词汇,为阅读做好准备。 Step 3 While-reading 1.Read the text and discuss thequestions (1)Who are the main characters in the story (2)Who is telling the story (3)When and where did the story happen (4)What effect did the terrible experience have on the storyteller 设计意图:学生通过阅读故事,掌握故事的人物和主要故事情景及历险给storyteller 造成的 影响。 2.Read and complete the information in the boxes.Then add the storyteller's feelings during each situation. 设计意图:学生通过细读,完成故事四个阶段的表格填空题,并总结判断四个不同场景中故 事讲述者的不同感情变化。 Step 4 Post-reading Think and share. (1)What were the three observations the storyteller made (2)Why did the storyteller survive while his elder brother didn't (3)What does the storyteller mean by“it took only six hours to break my body and soul” (4)What lessons have you learnt from the story Give your reasons.
