Unit 2 Travelling Around Reading and Thinking 教学目标 After this class, students are able to: 1.tell the difference between an encyclopedia entry and a travel brochure; 2.have a better understanding of Peru (including its location, geographical features, history and culture as well as some famous tourist destinations); 3.solve the problems in reading by using the reading skill scanning; 4.design an attractive travel brochure in English by adding beautiful photos, using vivid language and detailed descriptions of various activities. 教学重点: 1.How to solve the problems in reading by using the reading skill scanning. 2.How to design an attractive travel brochure according to its purpose and features. 教学难点: Know how to tell the difference between an encyclopedia and a travel brochure with the skills learnt. 教学过程 Stage 1. Warming up. 1.What places have you travelled to, both at home and abroad 2.Why do you travel e.g. To have fun; To see different views; To get away from everyday life; To explore the world, especially the unknown; To meet and communicate with different people; To experience new cultures and become open-minded. Stage 2. Pre-reading. For example, this place: Peru. Have you ever been to this country What do you know about it 1.Let’s watch a video Welcome to Peru. 2.What other sources of information can you find about Peru To find out more about Peru, we can: surf the Internet/check online use an encyclopedia go to the library get some travel brochures Stage 3. While-reading. Step 1. Read through the two texts about Peru and find out the difference between an encyclopedia and a travel brochure. 1.Please decide what types of text they are, encyclopedia or brochure. Tips: Before you read, look through the text quickly for titles, headers, pictures, charts, and any other information that might give you a hint.
