Unit 3 Sports and Fitness Reading and Thinking 教学目标 By the end of this class, students will be able to: 1. predict the content of the text with the help of titles and pictures; 2. figure out the achievements and qualities of Lang Ping and Michael Jordan and form opinions about successful athletes; 3. use the words and phrases learned in this class to introduce another “living legend” you admire. 教学重点： 1.help students master reading abilities. 2. guide students to find out the best qualities of successful athletes and learn from them. 3.encourage them to use what they have learned in class to describe their ideal living legends. 教学难点: 1. How to guide them to figure out the best qualities of successful athletes. 教学过程 Part 1 pre-reading activities ①Prediction :Look at the pictures and the titles. What is the text probably about Skill 1: make predictions Look at the pictures and titles and think about the content before reading. This helps you to relate what you read to what you already know and to understand the new text. ②Exploration:1. What is the purpose of this text To collect readers’ suggestions for living legends of sports. Skill 2: connect information Pay attention to the information before and after the text and figure out the purpose of the whole text. 2.What kind of people can be living legends They must be athletes who are masters in their sports and also set good examples for others. Part 2 reading activities ①Lang Ping : Reading and Thinking as a player Lang Ping brought honour and glory to her country. as a coach she led the China women's volleyball team to medals at world championships and the Olympics. as a person Lang Ping is loved by fans at home and abroad.
