What do you know about these people ● Richard Wagner was a German composer (作曲家) best known for his operas(歌剧). ● Wagner began learning the piano when he was very young, and was soon able to write musical compositions. ● Wagner's music is renowned(闻名的) for its complex nature, its harmonies(和声;和弦) and the way in which individual characters, places, ideas or plot elements in his operas are associated with musical themes. ● Zhu Guangqian was a Chinese aesthetician and educator. ● He was one of the most representative figures of contemporary Chinese aesthetics (美学). ● Since the 30s, Zhu Guangqian played an active role in China both on the literary and philosophical scenes, and, through his writings, he exerted an important influence on the moulding (风格) of numerous generations of intellectuals(知识分子). ● Auguste Rodin was a French artist, whose work had a great influence on modern art. ● His most original sculptures are of the human body. They show realism and celebrate(赞美) characteristics of the individual. Rodin's first original human sculpture was inspired by a visit to Italy in 1875. Later, he explored his personal style and gained his reputation as a sculptor at the age of 40. Today, Rodin remains one of the few sculptors widely known worldwide. ●Pablo Picasso was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. ●Born in Spain, Picasso's artistic talent was evident from a very early age. His works are often categorised into periods, for example the Blue Period and the Rose Period. Among his most famous paintings are the cubist (立体派的;立体主义的), Les Demoiselles d'Avignon(亚威农少女), and Guernica(格尔尼卡). Picasso's later works often combined elements of his earlier styles.
