What tenses do they use When do you use each tense The sentences use the simple present tense and the simple past tense. We use the simple present tense to talk about general truths(一般事实). We use the simple past tense to talk about completed actions(已完成的动作) that happened before now. 一般过去时 一般过去时可表示过去的状态、过去的特征、过去的行为等，常与表示过去的时间状语连用，如yesterday, last year, in 2024, two days ago等。 e.g. He got up early yesterday.
