(1) What will Simon do this weekend (2) What will Annie do this weekend (3) What will some volunteers do for the elderly in Simon’s community this weekend Step 2 Read and answer Have students read the conversation between Amy and her mum on page 23, pay attention to the use of “will” and answer the following questions. (1) Where will Amy go after lunch (2) What will Amy take with her and why Step 3 Learn and summarize 1. Have students think about the use of will and finish “Work out the rule!” on page 23. 2. Have students read the table on page 23 and summarize the form, meaning and use of simple future tense with “will”. 3. Have students go through “Grammar check” on pages 142-143. Give explanations if necessary. 4. Have students pay attention to the two tips on page 23. Step 4 Try and consolidate 1. Have students finish Part A1 on page 23. Pay attention to the adverbials of time. 2. Have students read the conversation between Simon and Annie and answer the following question. What information does Simon mention about the “Let’s clean up” day Step 5 Talk and share Have students finish Part A2 on page 23. Step 6 Read and answer Have students read the conversation between Simon and Amy on page 24, pay attention to the use of “be going to” and answer the following question. Why is Amy in a hurry to the Children’s Centre Step 7 Learn and summarize 1. Have students think about the use of “be going to” and read “Work out the rule!” on page 24. 2. Have students read the tables on page 24 and summarize the form, meaning and use of simple future tense with “be going to”. 3. Have students go through “Grammar check” on page 143.
