It’s a real honor for me to share my teaching ideas here. Today my presentation will be about the teaching design of Section B/ 3a~3c of Unit 2, Grade 8, from the textbook of Go for It. And my sharing falls into 8 main parts, including the analysis of teaching material, learners, teaching goals, important and difficult points, teaching and learning methods, teaching procedures, blackboard design and teaching reflection. Part I Analysis of teaching material【教材分析】 According to the new curriculum standards and core competencies: First, let’s start with the teaching material. According to new curriculum standards and the activity based approach to English learning, the text is analyzed from three aspects. They are what, why, and how 【What】 Reading: 3a finds what Zhang Peng asks his friend to do; 3b sorts his ideas (describing the room, asking for decoration help, planning walls, etc.). Writing: 3c imitates the email to ask a friend for decorating help, with given activities (buying flowers, etc.). 【Why】 Reading: Uses real emails to practice getting key info and sorting logic, understanding email formats. Writing: Builds on reading to imitate writing, practicing asking for help and describing plans in real life. 【How】 Reading: Students find info in 3a alone, check in groups; 3b is sorted individually then clarified as a class. Writing: Review 3a’s structure, outline needs, write, and peer-check. They’re familiar with basic reading tasks like finding specific information. -【What they wonder】 They may wonder how to identify key requests in longer emails, how ideas are organized in such texts, and how to use learned phrases to write their own help-request emails naturally. -【What they will learn】They’ll learn to extract specific requests from emails, sort the logical order of ideas, and use given activity materials to write coherent emails asking for decoration help, improving context-based reading and writing skills.
