The brain carefully controls this flow, but small changes can still happen . Short-term drops in blood flow can make thinking and memo叮 (记忆) worse for a short time. Long-term drops can raise the chance of developing 些血些白. Sitting for a long time can cut down blood flow to the legs, but it was not clear whether it has an effect on blood flow to the brain or not. To find out, scientists did a new study with fifteen healthy office workers. The workers wore special medical tools to record blood flow to the brain. Over four hours, they did three different activities: in one , they sat all the time but bathroom breaks ; in another, they walked for two minutes eve叮 half hour; and in the last one, they walked for eight minutes after sitting for two hours. This helped the scientists see how blood flow changed at different times . The results showed that sitting for long time can cut down blood flow to the brain and it may be bad for long-term brain health. However, taking a two-minute walk eveηhalf hour can help keep or even make more brain blood flow. The study also found that carbon dioxide levels (二氧化碳浓度) or breathing did not cause changes in blood flow. This means that sitting and moving have effects on blood flow in other ways.
