Do not lean heavily against the back of the chair or lean on the table with your elbows. 坐在椅子上时应坐直,不要紧靠在椅背上或者用手肘支在桌子上。 You should not begin to eat until your host or hostess has begun. 主人开始用餐之前你不要先开始。 Eat slowly, with your mouth closed. 吃饭时要慢慢吃,嘴不得张开。 Do not put too much food in your mouth at a time. 不要一次放太多事物在嘴里。 As long as there is food in the mouth, do not try to talk. 嘴里有事物的时候,不要试图开口讲话。 Do not make any noise with your mouth while eating. 吃饭的时候不要用嘴发出任何噪音。 Do not clean your teeth at the table with a toothpick, or your finger, or even your tongue. 不得在餐桌上用牙签、手指或者舌头剔牙。 If you have to cough, use your napkin to cover your mouth. 如果需要咳嗽的话,要使用餐巾遮住嘴。 Do you know any other table manners 03 While- reading 3a Read the conversation. Why is Hongli worried Sam: What’s wrong, Hongli Hongli: I’m having dinner at my friend’s house tonight. But English table manners are so confusing that I’m a little worried. Sam: Well, I’m from London. Ask me anything! Hongli: Thanks! Well, first, should I bring something Sam: Yes. Bring a small gift, but don't bring food unless the host asks you to.
