    Unit 6 I’m going to study computer science. Section A This unit mainly talks about life goals and future intentions. It is a good and elementary teaching material for Chinese students continue to develop their language fun_ction and grammar knowledge. Students may be interested in it. 【Knowledge objectives】 1. Ss will be able to master the following curriculum words and phrases: Cook, doctor, engineer, violinist, driver, pilot, pianist, scientist, grow up, be sure about, make sure, college, education, medicine, university, London, article, send 2. Ss will be able to use the target languages freely. -- What do you want to be when you grow up? -- I want to be a ... -- How are you going to do that? -- I am going to ... 【Ability objectives】 1. Ss will be able to use “be going to” to talk about future intentions and try to master the future tense: be going to 2. Ss will be able to improve their listening skills by predicting、grasping the key words and taking notes. 【Moral objectives】 Help students build up the positive attitude towards life goals and work for them. 【Teaching key points】 Ss will be able to talk about life goals and future intentions using “want to do” and “be going to”. 【Teaching difficulties】 1. Ss might find it a little difficult to learn some key phrases. 2. Ss might find it a little difficult to use “be going to” and master the future tense: be going to. 教学过程 Step1. Warm-up and leading-in 1. Greet the class. 2. Tell Ss I had a dream when I was a little child. Guess what it is. 3. Tell them though my hard-working, my dream came true when I grew up. I am a teacher now. Ask what they want to be when they grow up. Let them think of more jobs they have already known. 4. Show the language goal and tell Ss the first step to success is “Setting goals.” Step2. Presentation 1. Show the pictures and learn new words. At the same time, teach “want to do”. 2. Guess the words from the unclear pictures one by one to have an overall review and do 1a. 3. Ask “Which job is suitable to the girl/boy?” “Which job is popular in the USA?” “Which job is a little dangerous? and so on. 4. Ask Ss “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, “How are you going to do that?” Take “How are you going to be a computer programmer?” for example to each “future tense with be going to” and the actions like “take acting lessons”, “study math really hard”, “practice basketball” and so on. 5. Tell Ss the second step to success is “Working for it.” Work in pairs to talk about more actions using “be going to” Step3. Listening and speaking practice Do 1b 1. Before listening, let Ss guess their dream jobs and call their attention to the listening skill: Predicting before listening can help you listen better. 2.
