What is the meaning of each letter in the word ‘friendship’? Step Two: Pre-reading Let the Ss think about the questions: 1.Why do you need friends? Make a list of reasons why friends are important to you 2.Dose a friend always have to be a person? 教 学 环 节 Step Three: Reading 1. Look at the pictures and the title of the reading passage. Guess what it might be about. Step Four: Discussing the style 2. Now observe the text carefully to find out: how many parts it contains? what the different parts are about? (It contains two parts. One part is one page of Anne’s diary, the other one is the background knowledge about Anne and her diary.) Step Four: Skimming (Fill the blank on ppt) Step Five: Scanning Join the correct parts of the sentences Step Six: Detail reading 1.About how long had Anne and her family been in the hiding place when she wrote this part of her diary? 2.How did Anne feel about nature before she and her family hid away? 3.Why do you think her feelings changed towards nature? 4.Why did Anne no longer just like looking at nature out of the window? Keys: 1.About 2 years. The family went into hiding early July 1942. On the 15th June 1994 Anne wrote this diary entry. 2.She took nature for granted, but now she appreciates its beauty and majesty 3.Her feelings have changed because she was no longer able to go out as she pleased because she is in hiding. Losing freedom has made her feel more excited about good and beautiful things around her. 4.She didn’t want to be a “prisoner” in the hiding place any longer. She wanted to live a normal life again.
