Is Shanghai newer than Hong Kong? No, it isn’t. It’s older. 教学方法 Task based teaching method 教 具 Computer, recorder, CAI software 板书设计 Unit 1 Shanghai is bigger than Hong Kong Key words: Small—smaller tall—taller strong—stronger Big—bigger fat—fatter thin—thinner Busy—busier easy—easier Key sentences Shanghai is bigger than Hong Kong Beijing is busier than Tianjin. 教师活动 学生活动 Step1: Revision Have a dictation, get the students to write down the key words in the last class. Step2: Presentation: Direct students’ attention to the subject—my hometown and give the key words—hometown, population, million, kilometre metre, island, mountain,ect. Step3: Practice. 1. Show the pictures of Shanghai and Hong Kong side by side and give students 1 minute to think about the two cities. Then let students read the words in the boxes in Activity 1 and Activity 2 on P26. 2. Play the tape of Activity 2 and let students match the words in the boxes with the pictures of Shanghai and Hong Kong. Step4:Practice in pairs 1. Listen and read. 1) Ask the students to read the conversation silently. If they have some new words, have them discuss in pairs to guess the meaning. 2) Play the tape and ask the students to listen and read the conversation. 3) Play the tape again and pause after each phrase, ask the students to repeat after the tape step by step. 4) Ask the students to work in groups to practise the dialogue. Step5: Oral practice Get several groups to act the conversation in class. Then have the students repeat it several times and change roles each time. Get the groups to act the dialogue again, this time, they have to repeat it without the text books. Have a match to choose the best group, make sure that most of them can recite the dialogue fluently. Step6: Summary and homework Summarize what they have learnt in this class. Have a dictation. Write down the new words and expressions. Answer the questions, Read the words in the boxes in Activity 1 and Activity 2 on P26. Look and match the words with the pictures individually. Listen to the tape and check the answers. Listen and read the dialogue. Practice the dialogue in pairs, then act the dialogue in class. ... ...
