Learning target(s) ISc to exchange short simple messages through activities such as writing greeting cards and notes KSa to provide or find out and present simple information on familiar topics KSc to state opinions using information and ideas in simple spoken and written texts Language skills Writing Provide personal ideas and information based on the model or framework provided Use appropriate formats and conventions of short written texts such as notes Draft, revise and edit short written texts with teacher support Speaking Use simple sentences to communicate with others with the help of cues Generic skills Communication skills Provide, use and exchange simple information on familiar topics Critical thinking skills Provide, use, find out, interpret and present simple information on familiar topics Values and attitudes Develop confidence in using English through performing tasks on their own or in groups Develop sensitivity towards language use in the process of communication Task steps Read the rubrics and examples carefully with the class. Practise the language needed for the task and demonstrate the steps by using the pictures at each step of the task. Part A Ask pupils to choose a person who helps them. They make notes on the Copymaster about that person. Part B Pupils get into pairs. They tell their partner about the person who helps them. More able pupils could talk about the appearance of that person. Part C According to their notes in the table, pupils write a note on the Copymaster to the person who helps them. Part D Tell pupils to copy out the note neatly and give it to the person who helps them. More able pupils could use adjectives they have previously learnt. Choose a person who helps you.
