Teaching procedures Step 1 Appreciation Show students a Chinese poem in English and have them read the poem and answer: What is the name of the poem What feelings can you find in the poem Step 2 Prediction before reading lead Ss to focus on the title and pictures of the magazine article and think about the following questions: How do you understand the title What aspects will be talked about in the following paragraphs Step 3 Reading for organization Ask ss to read the article and complete the outline of the article in A1 on page 18. Lead them to analyze the structure of an argumentative essay. Step 4 In-depth reading Have ss to focus on paragraph1 and ask them how the author introduces the topic.
