It was celebrated at the end of the harvest season and people would light bonfires （篝火） and don（穿上） costumes to scare off ghosts that were said to roam（漫游） the lands. . Some of these traditions were later incorporated（被纳入） into All Saints’ Day（万圣节）, celebrated on Novermber 1. The evening before , October 31, was known as All Hallows’ Evening(also known as All Hallows’ Eve), which was then shortened（被缩短） to Halloween.
