Unit 2 Morals and Virtues Reading and Thinking 教学设计 I. Teaching Objectives To help students understand the main ideas and details of the text. To improve students' reading skills such as skimming, scanning, and in-depth reading. To enhance students' ability to analyze and discuss the text. To guide students to explore the meaning and importance of morals and virtues. II. Teaching Key Points Key vocabulary and expressions in the text. Comprehension of the text structure and content. Analysis of the characters' qualities and behaviors. III. Teaching Difficult Points Understanding some complex sentences and expressions. Making inferences and connections based on the text. IV. Teaching Aids Multimedia equipment to display the text and relevant materials. V. Teaching Procedure Pre-reading Show some pictures or videos related to morals and virtues and ask students to share their initial thoughts and examples. While-reading Skimming: Have students quickly read through the text to get the general idea. Ask them to summarize the main topic. Scanning: Guide students to look for specific information such as the main events or characters' actions. For example, ask them to find the key deeds of a certain character. In-depth reading: Analyze difficult sentences together, explaining the grammar and meaning. For instance, "The kindness and selflessness she showed in helping others was truly remarkable." Discuss the characters' qualities and how they reflect morals and virtues. Example: "What can we learn from the doctor's perseverance in treating patients " Raise questions for students to think and answer. "Why did the nurse make that choice " Post-reading Group discussions: Divide students into groups to discuss the following questions. "What are the most important morals and virtues in the story " "How can we apply these morals and virtues in our daily lives " Have each group present their ideas and have a class discussion. Summary: Summarize the key points of the text and the significance of morals and virtues. VI. Homework Write a short composition about a person they admire who embodies good morals and virtues. Class Example In the text, when we come across the part where the main character faces a difficult decision, we stop and discuss: "What would you do in this situation How does this decision show the character's moral character " Students actively participate in the discussion, sharing their views and insights. This design aims to help students deeply understand the text while developing their language skills and critical thinking abilities, and have a better understanding of the importance of morals and virtues.
