They have acquired some reading skills, and have some knowledge of the topic of natural disasters, but most have never experienced one. They also didn't know much about the Tangshan earthquake. Through this unit, students can learn to master the main idea of the text and find out some detailed information about an earthquake. What’s more, they will be able to understand the greatness of our country and the unity spirit of Chinese people and establish a sense of social responsibility. 四、Teaching aims(教学目标): 1.Language Competence: Students can learn about the basic information of the Tangshan earthquake; , improving reading and speaking skills. 2.Thinking Quality: They can reflect on the lesson from Tangshan earthquake and think critically about natural disasters. 3.Learning Ability: Figure out the topic sentences correctly. 4.Cultural Awareness: They can understand the greatness of our country and the unity spirit of Chinese people and establish a sense of social responsibility. 五、Teaching important and difficult point(教学重难点): Important Points: 1.Students can get the main idea, structure and some details of the text; 2.To learn to use different reading strategies such as skimming, scanning and summarizing.
