Henry’s, Ss should first fully understand the whole story, laying a solid foundation for the theme exploring later. Therefore, guiding Ss to understand the passage is the key objective of this class. 2. Information about the author is provided in the text, reviewing it before reading help remind Ss of the surprise endings of O. Henry’s stories. 3. This passage is designed to develop students’ ideas on friendship, encouraging and inspiring them to think deeply about friendship and duty, as well as what is true friendship. Reading and Exploring (14 min) Ask Ss to read the text silently and finish the tasks. 1. List all the verbs in conversation in each time zone and ask Ss to write down the words on the Bb. 2.
